Thing 16

Widgets . . . Gadgets . . .
. . . "by any other name would smell as sweet"

It is easy to add gadgets to the blog directly from Blogger. These gadgets display on every page. Unfortunately, widgets from the web can only be embedded in a single post. Both can be accomplished easily, however. The process seems straightforward and trouble free.

You'll find one of my favorite old-time games, Tetris, at the bottom of the page, and here is a bit of history for you.

  1. Widgets from the Web can be added to your layout. Go to layout and add a gadget. Pick "HTML/JavaScript." Most widgets will work if you use this method to add them.

I just wish those Google ads weren't so prevalent. Somebody has to pay the bills though.

  2. Apparently I do not understand the objective of Tetris...I had no clue what to do, but I have never played it before.

  3. The goal of Tetris is to fill rows with colored squares without gaps. Any time you completely fill a row, that row disappears and squares above move down one row.

When pieces appear at the top of the playing area, you control them with the arrow buttons. The up arrow rotates the pieces, the right and left arrows move the piece side to side. When you have the piece positioned how you want it to be at the bottom, you can use the down arrow to speed it's fall. Then you place the next piece and so on, trying to fill rows, without leaving gaps.

  4. I was able to figure out the arrow buttons...I guess I never completely filled a row because none of my rows disappeared.
